Horse show venues in Hampshire
Wellington Riding is one of the largest equestrian centres in the south. Boasting a riding school, livery yard and competition venue, its fantastic facilities include two indoor arenas, an international sized floodlit outdoor arena, an outdoor showjumping arena, two more outdoor arenas, cross-country course and showjumps. It hosts a wide range of events year-round, including affiliated and unaffiliated dressage, affiliated and unaffiliated showjumping, unaffiliated combined training, Pony Club competitions and Saddle Club competitions. At the end of August, it hosts Wellington International Horse Trials, a CIC3* event which attracts top international competitors – Sam Griffiths, Paul Tapner and Izzy Taylor all rode here in 2015.
Eventers of all levels will find something to suit them at Tweseldown, in Fleet, Hampshire. Since it was bought by the British Army in 1854 to train cavalry for the Crimean War, this renowned cross-course has held military revues for the Queen, hosted Olympic events, National Hunt, point-to-point, the world Pentathlon riding events and is now staging regular eventing competitions, as well as being extremely popular for cross-country schooling sessions. Along with several unaffiliated horse trials throughout the year, Tweseldown also hosts BE events in March, May and July. Zara Philips has ridden here, as have William Fox-Pitt and Andrew Nicholson.
Sparsholt College has a dedicated equine centre that provides competition facilities for equestrians in the county. The centre has been awarded British Dressage Venue of the Year for two consecutive years and hosted the Australian Paralympic Equestrian team for pre-event training prior to the 2012 Olympics. It has also hosted research by world famous equestrian trainer Monty Roberts. With excellent facilities including an indoor arena, three outdoor arenas and a cross-country training field, regular events include affiliated and unaffiliated dressage and showjumping, as well as other riding club events.
