Horse show venues in Wales

If you’re looking to enter a horse show in Wales then why not see what Talygarn Equestrian Centre has to offer?

One of the biggest and busiest equestrian venues in the UK, The David Broome Event Centre, in Chepstow, Monmouthshire, hosts the Chepstow International Horse Show, a CCI2* event, which takes place over the May Bank Holiday weekend and is now in its second year, that draws top riders from across Britain and beyond. And you might bump into the showjumping legend himself in the venue’s popular cafe.

There are also plenty of grassroots competitions at the David Broome Event Centre, run by Cricklands. Cricklands holds regular unaffiliated dressage and showjumping competitions and championships, and the company is looking at adding showing competitions to its programme.  The centre is also home to Mount Ballen Horse Trials, an annual event affiliated to British Eventing, that runs classes from BE80 up to novice level.

Another BE event to look out for is Llanymynech Horse Trials that takes place in August at Radfords Equestrian, on the England/Wales border, offering classes from BE90 up to novice. With a new cross-country course for 2015, it’s an exciting opportunity for grassroots event riders.

Another horse show venue in Wales is Rhos Farm Equestrian, in Powys, Mid-Wales. With good facilities including a 60×20 arena with show jumps, grass dressage arena, and minimus cross-country course, the equestrian centre runs regular mini one-day events, dressage and showjumping competitions. A gymkhana is usually held on the third Wednesday of every month, and Trec competitions are also held here.

The Pencoed campus of Brigend College, in South Wales, has an equestrian centre that is regularly used for events and competitions including the British Vaulting Championships. There are plans afoot to bring British Eventing to South Wales by holding a horse trials at this equine venue.
